Consultation and Treatment Planning Appointment
re: We might schedule another appointment for Consultation and Treatment Planning.* Why?
After we have completed the New Patient Complete Dental Examination procedure, it still might not be immediately clear either to you or to us what the best options for treatment are. There are several possibilities:
- We need the results of further tests or x-rays. For instance, one such test might be a Microscopic Plaque Examination. The conditions might not be right to do that on the day of your New Patient Dental Examination.
- We need reports and feedback from other dentists, dental specialists or physicians.
- Your situation is complex and we require time to analyze the findings of your examination and to consider options for your treatment.
- You require time to consider options, and to do your due diligence about them. Such diligence for instance, often requires understanding the issues around informed consent especially where it involves choosing alternative as opposed to standard of care treatment options.
- We ran out of time at this appointment and we need to continue the discussion at another time.
- You may need time to consider your finances. Often, this involves waiting for “dental insurance” providers to respond to you.
* Sometimes such a consultation can be carried out over the phone or by email exchanges. We’ll do whatever we all agree seems best.
